Aqua Addicts

Postby janastasio on Tue Mar 17, 2009 10:32 pm

Had a conference in Peabody MA today, so I stopped in Salem on my way home to check out Aqua Addicts. Not the best place I've been to, but also not the worst! 2 staff members certainly very helpful, so that aspect was nice! Small fish selection, but all fish looked very healthy. Could not find a sign of ich or any disease on any fish. That to me is huge! So kudos to them on that, they are taking good care of the their live stock. Coral selections was a bit mediocre and not all looked that great. Also coral seemed pricey for the types and current health of them. They were in the midst of installing UV sterilizers on wall for the tanks with corals, so they said some of the corals were agitated from their work. I purchased a Flame Angel, that looks and is doing great. They had 2 in the store and said they would not sell one because its stomach appeared distended. Points earned there too! So I will prob give this place another visit again the next time I go thru and see what changes have been made. I believe they said its a new owner since December. They certainly seemed hard at work on the tanks! Told them about the board and they mentioned maybe becoming a sponser. They currently sponser the NH reef club org. I'll post some pics of my new corals and fish hopefully sometime in the next day or two! Been crazy busy since the weekend!

Jaime, I have moved this to the Vendor Experience forum.

I have also had the pleasure of visiting Aqua Addicts in Salem... I liked it better than Jay's, honestly.
They had a sweet acan tank that had lots of nice specimens, but yes... A little pricey. You do get what you pay for and believe they weren't too off from what prices the Pet Advantage offers. What I did find was kind've convenient, was that they sell a lot of the products that Bulk Reef Supply carries. I dunno if they are a certified reseller of BRS supplies, but found it very handy that they had many of the more popular BRS supplies on-hand. I didn't have a chance or the knowledge at the time to compare their BRS product prices to buying direct from bulkreefsupply.com, but it would be nice to know if I were in a pinch, I could go down to my LFS and pick up what I needed (DI resin, Calcium, or Alkalinity for instance).

Thanks and sorry for posting in wrong section! They were offering a nice deal on instant ocean 5 gallon bucket for $35. I dont use that brand of salt, but its a good price for a local place not shipping. I dont have any Acans and I'm not familiar enough with them to know what is good and what isnt! I will definitely go back again when I'm in the area and see what changes have been made! Hopefully they will check us out too! Nice to spread the word about this site!

Aqua Addicts is pretty good they have pretty good prices on their inverts. As far as corals they are a little over priced on their big corals but i got a nice blastomussa coral frag for $10 so i was happy with that.

I made a quick stop by Aqua Addicts yesterday on my way back from Mass. It is an easy hop off the interstate, so I'll probably check them while passing through.

They seemed to be a lull right now. Not much in stock of corals or fish. They did have what looked like several newly cycled setups to the right with just rock and sand in them. The one major issue I had was I didn't see any prices on the corals they did have and few prices on the fish or priced on the wrong tanks.

I'll give them another look during the winter time.
