Monthly power costs?

Postby ich on Thu Dec 24, 2009 11:11 pm

I was wondering what power cost increases I would expect to see if I setup a 75 gallon FOWLR with a Nova Extreme Pro T5 setup?

Lights would be on 10-12 hours a day. Pumps on 24/7

The other electrical would be a sump/refridgium/heater.

thanks!

I we need more info to tell. 75 sounds to high. I think you need to add up the wattage for every thing then, check elec bill to for cost per Kwatt hr. Heater will be one of the biggest draws, but it wont be on all the time. My tank is less then $20a month, but its a pretty basic 55 setup.

My electricity is between $250-$300 per month. That isnt all tank, but I think it contributes a nice chunk!

Holy CRAP!

I figured my tank cost me anywhere between $25-$50/mo. Depending on the season.

Isnt that crazy! I'm always going around the house shutting off lights. We use energy bulbs, but who knows how much that helps! We hit in the $300's during the summer months with airconditioners going.

My home power consumption on my 65 reef with dual 175 halides and another 95 watts of PC, plus a freshwater with 64 watts of PC, rarely ever run AC in my house, is usually around $80 to $100 per month. The only time I see spikes in electricity is either when I run AC or lots of fans and maybe winter with house lights/TV on earlier.

My power bill runs $450-500 per month. I know matt has a smaller home with one tank and his runs $250-$300. The worst thing is I even have a gas water heater :o . I do have 6 tanks, the small pond in the house and the large pond out side. The only way to really tell would be to have someone who is seting up new and see what the change is? or when someone takes there tank down, we could see what the savings were? I have never had a $80 electrical bill in a home but that must be nice :D

My bill usually runs some where between $70 and $90 and i have 3 different tanks running which includes a 250 watt metal halide. My guess is that my electric bill for my tanks is about $35-$45.
