one inch hole glass hole saw

Postby reefkeeper on Mon Jul 26, 2010 10:28 pm

What are the chances of someone in the VMA having a 1" glass hole saw that I could borrow/rent/buy for the weekend? I'm looking to drill a single hole in my 125 side panel for an external return pump that will hopefully be here by the weekend.

You want a hole saw which cuts a one inch hole? Or a hole saw that will cut the hole for a one inch bulkhead?

The return pump outlet is 1" pipe, I'm looking for the hole saw needed for that size bulkhead. I had a brain skip after reading your reply, the bulkhead is going to be a larger hole. I'll find out what the outside diameter of the bulkhead is tommrow and post it. thanks

I've got a 1-3/4" hole saw that can be used for a one inch bulkhead that you can borrow. It's cut a couple of holes but is still in decent shape. Or if you ordered one (glass-holes.com) it would most likely be here by this weekend- I hear they ship pretty quick.

Thanks for the offer and information Joel, I checked out the glass-holes website. The saws are much cheaper than I had anticipated. For whatever reason I assumed they were like 50-60 dollars. Being it only 15 I ordered one for myself, this way I can drill the tank at my leisure and don't have to worry about scrapping someone else's drill bit.

I got mine from fishman, who bought it from glassholes. He said he was surprised how fast it got to him, in just a couple days. You got the 1-3/4", right? You should have it in time for the weekend I think. But if you want to borrow mine, offer still stands. Best of luck!

yes I did get the 1 3/4 and thanks for the offer again though if I don't use the saw I ordered, my girlfriend might have something to say about spending the money when I didn't have too......,. I really want to get the sump drilled so I can continue with this, but at the same time, I've been working at my new tank for a year and a half so far so a few extra days probally won't kill me. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel on the setup but as for all the house renovations that I've made to fit it into our living room, well thats anohter story, but thats getting there too. too much to do, not enough hours in a day to do them and still maintain a family life
